Junior Achievement of Western PA (JA) has officially opened applications for the Intern to VP Professional Branding and Leadership Development Training Program taught by Moments of Focus LLC, an impactful professional development program that gives high school-aged girls a 10-year head start on their professional journeys.

Taught by brand and leadership development expert BeNeca Griffin, Intern to VP focuses on the areas of leadership, professional development and personal branding. Over four, 2-hour classes, 50 select applicants engage in lectures and activities to learn how to discover their personal brands, prequalify for future opportunities, identify goals and action plans, improve communication skills, and launch their brand on social media.

"Social media can provide young women more professional opportunities than ever before as long as they understand how to utilize it,” said Patrice Matamoros, President of JA. “Intern to VP provides our participants with a 10-year head start on leveraging their personal brands to stand out in the professional world.”

Those selected to join the 2023 Intern to VP program represent a wide range of strengths, interests and skills that embody their desire to further their professional development and grow their personal brands. Last year’s class of participants dreamed of furthering their professional development to become entrepreneurs, nurses, engineers, film producers, athletes, and more.

“For the longest time, I never wanted to be my own boss and start a business,” former Intern to VP participant Cara Salerno said. “This program has opened my eyes to understanding more about it and wanting to find that opportunity for myself. I’m not scared to do it anymore.”

When completing the Intern to VP application, applicants should consider the following questions:

- What things would you like to improve upon yourself?

- How do you think this program will influence your personal and professional growth?

- Who inspires you?

- How do your hobbies and extracurricular activities contribute to your personal brand?

Applicants are also encouraged to submit a 30 second-1 minute video discussing one word that describes them.

Applications for Intern to VP are open through December 1, 2022, and the program begins on January 14, 2023 via Zoom. JA will accept applications for high school-aged girls residing in the 56-county footprint of western PA and northern WV.
