Junior Achievement of Western PA Accelerates Professional & Personal Development for Teenage Girls

January 12, 2023 (Pittsburgh, PA) - Junior Achievement of Western PA (JA) has opened registration for the Empower Her Summit presented by PPG, a female empowerment event foc used on connecting high school-aged girls with a dynamic community of female leaders to share meaningful dislogue and identify and strengthen their personal brands. 

Attendees will gain indispensable opportunities through relationship building and networking, hands-on, life-skills workshops, and authentic discussions. These activities will highlight professional development and leadership skills and touch on topics that will prepare them for the real world.   

“Young ladies who attend the Summit can learn from some of the most intelligent, passionate and accomplished women in our area," said Patrice Matamoros, President of Junior Achievement of Western PA. “The connections made here can help open doors to endless possibilities for these students.” 

As another interactive portion of the Summit, participants will experience unique brand activations from each top-tier partner. These activations will integrate their expertise in the business world and transferable skills that they can teach attendees. Brands featured in the activations include presenting partner PPG as well as Olympus Energy, MSA Safety, and TriState Capital Bank. 

Cultivating future female leaders starts with expanding educational opportunities and reaching students with a passion for discovery,” said Malesia Dunn, Executive Director, PPG Foundation and Corporate Global Social Responsibility. “Through the Empower Her Summit, we are investing in powerful experiences and tools for success and aim to inspire creative and innovative paths ahead.” 

JA’s inaugural Empower Her Summit was held in May 2022 and featured a host of inspiring speakers and female business leaders.  

“I think that nothing is set in stone in life, and you need to have all your options open,” said 2022 attendee Anne Lindsay. “Junior Achievement’s Empower Her Summit is a great way to show you what those options are, expose you to many new aspirations and let you know that dreams really are limitless.” 

The Empower Her Summit presented by PPG will be held on March 10th at Carlow University. JA will accept registrations from high school-aged participants residing in the 56-county footprint of western PA and northern WV. JA anticipates approximately 150 girls to attend.
