Melvin Washington of TriState Capital Bank honored as 50th Golden Achievement Honoree During Junior Achievement Outing
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – Junior Achievement (JA) hosted their annual golf outing at Laurel Valley Golf Club, a long-time tradition raising funds and awareness for the organization’s mission. This year’s event, presented by TriState Capital Bank and NRG Energy, honored JA Board member and Chief Audit Officer & CRA Officer for TriState Capital, Melvin Washington, as the 50th Golden Achievement Honoree.
This award is given annually to distinguished business and community members for their dedication to the development and growth of our region. Washington was recognized for his commitment to educating the next generation of leaders and readying them for financial and career success.
JA 18 Under Eighteen honoree and soon-to-be graduate of Pittsburgh CAPA addressed the room during Wednesday evening’s Golden Achievement Reception with remarks on Washington. The two were connected weeks before the event due to their shared passion for empowering young people through financial literacy.
“Mr. Washington and I share a common goal which is to drive ourselves to learn and do more for our communities," said Jason Garland. “He told me that there are real people in this world who are willing to step in, support, and aid me in my journey throughout life, I one day will be this person, as Mr. Washington is to so many.”
The attendance of Ben Roethlisberger and Steve Blass added to the excitement of the event, highlighting the importance of community involvement and support for JA's mission. The event raised $325,000 for JA's educational programs, which focus on financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and work readiness.
