Melvin Washington of TriState Capital Bank Selected as Junior Achievement’s 50th Golden Achievement Honoree

March 21, 2023 (Pittsburgh, PA) - Junior Achievement of Western PA (JA) has announced JA Board member Melvin Washington, Chief Audit Officer & CRA Officer for TriState Capital Bank, as their 50th Golden Achievement Honoree. Mel joins the ranks of other influential business and community members who were inducted for their significant contributions to the economic and civic growth of our region.

Mel will be honored at the Golden Achievement Reception during JA’s 31st annual golf outing at Laurel Valley Golf Club, co-presented by TriState Capital Bank and NRG Energy. The two-day-long golf outing on May 24th-25th raises funds that benefit JA's educational programs for local students in grades K-12.

Each year, inductees are chosen by a committee of representatives from regional businesses and JA.

"The recommendation to honor Mel for this distinction was easy and unanimously received," said Patrice Matamoros, President of Junior Achievement of Western PA. "He has been a positive figure in the JA classroom and the organization for years. His leadership is an inspiration to each of us - especially to our students who want to apply their education to make a difference in the world.”

Mel Washington has been with TriState Capital Bank (TSC) for nearly a decade and is currently responsible for administering the Bank’s 3rd Line of Defense (Audit) and Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) program. Mel came to the TSC with over 15 years of bank regulatory experience, having most recently worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland as a Banking Supervisor for community banking organizations. Prior to that, Mel served with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
