JA Careers in Skilled Trades

Piloting in fall of 2023!

JA Careers in Skilled Trades, a digital career module, will introduce students in 5th-8th grades to career pathways, illustrate what professions align with their skills and interests and highlight technical skills essential to all professions.

 

The program, which will be ready by the end of the next school year, is an approved pre-apprenticeship program and will be launched as a pilot in the Pittsburgh area in the fall of 2023. It will be rolled out to 100 area schools and ultimately to more than 330 schools by 2024.

 

What Makes This Program Unique?

• The program utilizes gamification strategies to help students identify career clusters of interest
• The program will help students better match their interests and skills with careers that are high-growth, and high-demand.  
• The program will serve as a feeder system into industry and trade-specific training and certificate programs.
